Situations We Treat as Emergencies
- Severe or sudden tooth pain
- A knocked-out or displaced tooth
- A cracked, chipped, or fractured tooth
- Lost filling or crown causing pain or sensitivity
- Swelling in the face, gums, or jaw
- Persistent bleeding from the mouth or gums
- A broken denture or orthodontic appliance causing discomfort
- Signs of infection, such as a bump or pimple on the gums with pain
What to Do Before You Reach Us
- Knocked-out tooth – handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently if dirty, and try to keep it moist (in milk or held in place in the socket) until you’re seen
- Severe pain – rinse with warm water and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling
- Bleeding – apply gentle pressure with clean gauze or a cloth
- Broken tooth or restoration – save any pieces if possible and avoid chewing on that side
These are temporary measures only – call us as soon as possible for proper treatment.
What Happens When You Come In
- Immediate assessment – identifying the cause and urgency of your issue
- Pain relief – addressing discomfort as a priority, even before full treatment begins
- X-ray if needed – to check for underlying damage or infection
- Treatment – whether it’s a repair, extraction, root canal, or other procedure suited to your emergency
- Follow-up plan – guidance on next steps and any further treatment needed
